Book Reviews: Edition 28

Book Reviews: Edition 28 focuses on The Little Butterfly With No Colors, Sweet Dreams: Good Night, and Aly’s Pet-Tastic Birthday!: A story on pet care.

The Little Butterfly With No Colors

The Little Butterfly With No Colors is written by Brittney Herrera and Yosi Vidal.

This was a cute story about patience and being who you are, but there are so many factual issues that I didn’t really like the story. Butterflies start as caterpillars, not as butterflies without their colors. This book gets 3/5 stars from me.

Sweet Dreams: Good Night

Sweet Dreams: Good Night is written by Brittney Herrera. The story is rather simplistic and undeveloped. While I get the idea of what the author was trying to do, the conflict, little Ally not wanting to sleep, is resolved too easily. There are no stakes to the conflict, making the story rather uninteresting. This one gets 2/5 stars from me.

Aly’s Pet-Tastic Birthday!: A story on pet care

Aly’s Pet-Tastic Birthday!: A story on pet care is written by Ty James.

While I liked the idea of the story, it felt forced, particularly where the rhyming was concerned. There also wasn’t really a conflict. The kitten was lost for 2 seconds, but the Aly’s mother found her immediately, and then taught her how to take care of the kitten. This one gets 2/5 from me as well.
